Nutritional Carp Boilie And Paste Expert Recipe Tips For Instant Big Fish!}

Submitted by: Tim F. Richardson

Where do you start in creating instant nutritionally-stimulating pastes and boilies? The answer is very simple; study fish sensitivities and test individual ingredients, additives, combinations and levels to find real fish feedback answers. Luckily for you, Ive been doing this work for years in finding approaches processes and alternative thinking to defeat leading readymades; so heres an introductory short-cut into nutritionally-stimulating bait making, beginning with a bait you can use for instant success!

When designing baits its is best to instead of thinking about ingredients, to study your fish, internally, in-depth. Matching up how and why natural substances stimulate true oral feeding, with what kinds of levels and combinations you can use which mirror what fish feed on naturally is really a matter of reading and testing very simple paste baits on easy fish. Even easy fish will go bananas beyond how they will feed on other baits and their levels and combinations of ingredients when you get things even more accurate for the most powerful feeding responses.

The first step is to consider water reactivity because how your bait substances dissolves reacting with water and become solution really will dictate to a huge degree how effective your bait will be, no matter what nutritional considerations you may have. This leads me on to recommending that you avoid using eggs and boiling because eggs lock up you bait thus drastically reducing bait solubility and boiling drastically removes the most soluble and active components even before you have even begun fishing with the baits; boiling is crazy even though so many anglers still mistakenly do it!

Boiling is simply not thought out enough and people mostly do it out of habit not realising how superior it is to not lose your most reactive and detectable substances out of baits before actually fishing them!

So one clue to what to start with is something highly soluble which happens to be a true feeding triggering substance. There are lots of papers on koi nutrition and even on common carp nutrition in aquaculture, but frankly the vast majority of this is not set in a competitive bait environment where actually the point of bait is to maximise the deep mouthing of baits and hook fish, as opposed to actually feeding them!

I tend to use marine extracts rather a lot in my baits, and avoid common carbohydrates. I never think of binders in the sense of things like soya, semolina, maize or egg as these are used in most readymade baits one way or another and fish presented with these really do know they represent a typical threat, as opposed to an opportunity. In most waters today fish actually feed on such baits with bait-induced caution instead of really feeding naturally, so fish are often caught on such baits despite fish being wary and feeding with caution; its merely a numbers game!

But I personally want to put numbers in my unique favour. So to begin with think about semolina and soya. These are whole grain and pulse food items and the actually feed-stimulatory content of these is proven, but is rather on the low side. Plus semolina id radically insoluble and soya isnt one of the most potent of binding and stimulating ingredients.

So you might have noticed I have been attempting to highlight that insoluble binders with poor stimulatory potential are definitely not the best starting point in making and designing big carp baits! But going back to the nutritionally-stimulating aspect, when you simply focus on the stimulating bit, instead of the feeding bit, then perhaps you will understand a bit more about the most effective baits, i.e. that they are very soluble and extremely easily detected though more often than not based on completely natural extracts and other components.

Fish meals contain all the basic components that fish essentially require on a dietary basis, even though other aspects and components can be supplemented such as vitamins, minerals, additional amino acids, fatty acids, probiotic factors, prebiotic factors, and certain growth factors and other internally-stimulating factors etc.

As fish meals are still so economical I will begin with these as a starting point. More specifically two starting points, beginning with hydrolysed fish protein and pre-digested fish meal. Place either of these in a tank of pretty much any strain of carp, immature to mature well over 20 pounds and fish respond by feeding instantly on these as they disperse in concentrated solution.

So this is a very easy starting point. The next stage is not to simply bind fish protein in carbohydrate binders bung eggs, flavour and sweetener in and go fishing! Sure it works but Im talking about making baits effective enough so that your big fish will not avoid your bait and instead selectively pick up your baits upon their first experience of them, even fishing against extremely well established readymade so-called food baits.

In my own baits I might use anything from about 50 to up to 80 substances in the extreme end of genuinely optimising my baits for internal and external functioning. But every single substance is part of the over all synergistic impact and effect of the bait and I choose to exploit as many sensitivities and internal pathways possible and catch big wary fish in the moment, in real time as fast as possible, using the smallest volume of the most extremely potent bait possible.

For the purpose of this article I will just show an introductory bait which you can build on, knowing that the basic components work together to produce a palatable instant paste or boilie bait, should you chose to heat it, preferably by fast steaming or low temperature cooking.)

So you have pre-digested fish meal. Add to this some blue cheese powder, Robin Red additive, some Vitamealo, mixed herbs and spices e.g. clove powder, cinnamon powder, and garlic salt or garlic powder or extract.

Note: Include at least a one percent plus inclusion of betaine e.g.15 grams per kilogram total dry mixture and remember that including a similar low level of coarse and fine rock salts will help bait substance conductivity, amino acids detection etc and palatability enhancement, apart from other primary nutritionally-stimulating factors etc!)

Mix hydrolysed fish protein liquid and glycerine together at for example 4 parts fish to 1 part glycerine, plus some hemp oil at about 5 percent of the liquid mixture overall. Include Olbas oil at about 5 plus percent of the overall mixture, so for instance the liquid is 90 percent fish and glycerine and 10 percent hemp oil and Olbas oil.

When making the dough mixture always thoroughly mix the powders with each other very well and mix the liquids together very well and then add the powders very gradually to the liquid mixture until a firm dough is achieved. Try hand-forming baits to really get a feel and more of an intuitive experience of the baits.

It is always advisable when making dough to allow the mixture when not quite firm enough, to site, in a sealed environment for anything for 20 minutes, or an hour or two, to 6 hours to 3 days, to allow the liquids to best penetrate and be soaked into the powder ingredients and additives. This also makes mixing and achieving a firm past very much easier, (especially with very soluble sticky baits!)

The bait will be sticky, very soluble and takes some practice to reach a firm dough, but it is very worth it, to practice refining baits using a new starting point of soluble additives and ingredients instead of eggs and carbohydrate binders! The fish will really instantly notice the difference!

I find that liquid attractants and metabolic stimulants such as Olbas oil works best in higher instead of lower doses , so do experiment!

I dont usually recommend use of eggs but if most people have access to whole egg powder and for beginners it is easy to include some in your base mix perhaps at 5 percent and experiment with how you can still bind your paste or boilie dough mixture to a required resiliency and breakdown time using a little egg as possible!

Remember that by using dry egg instead of liquid egg you actually make you bait more potent by ensuring your bait can be based on actual feed-stimulatory hydrolysed fish instead of eggs whose content water content simply wastes bait capacity for being based on more feeding triggers!

The point of this bait is simply to provide experience of an instantly-acting nutritionally-stimulating anchor point, to begin practicing experimenting making baits which are actually based on a range of substances usually not put together this way, but all extremely-well proven to produce big carp! (This form of bait is an unusual and unique experience for your fish which is a huge advantage!)

This bait is not optimised for digestion or daily nutritional requirements because frankly it works without such aspects! Simple baits work! If you wont to take things further, really get into creating the most extreme potency baits optimised for internal impacts, external detection and palatability factors, then of course this takes more reading and guidance from someone who has been solely designing homemade baits that defeat the leading readymade baits professionally for the past 14 years.
